1. Chocolate and Bacon
By far one of our favourite pairings. Chocolate and Bacon is one of the most versatile sweet and savoury combinations. Cookies, ice cream, brownies, cupcakes even pizza this combination is far more versatile than simply covering bacon with chocolate.
2. Figs and Cheese
One of the most classic pairings out there. You can typically find figs and cheese in your charcuterie board but this combination can take far more complex shapes. In Italy Mascarpone Cheese, Figs and Honey are used in a popular panini recipe. Tartlets, ice cream, there are countless possibilities when it comes to using these two ingredients.
3. Chocolate and Venison
Not many meats pair well with chocolate, for this combo to work you need a meat with a texture and flavour rich enough to stand up to the sweetness of chocolate. Venison has all these qualities and when matched with a chocolate sauce, it’s a match made in heaven.
4. Mango and Sriracha Sauce
Who would’ve known that the sweet and juicy mango would pair well with the bold flavour of Sriracha sauce? Salsas, marinades, purees and even a drink that has become a Momofuku staple.
5. Citrus and Poultry
Citrus fruits such as lemons and limes offer a great flavour contrast when combined with poultry, specifically light flavoured meats. It is a classic combination and every house hold has a different recipe for dishes such as lemon chicken, turkey with cranberry sauce and for the sophisticated cooks, duck a l’orange.
